Terms of Service

Last updated 19 October 2026

These terms govern your use of KVNest, a managed Redis and Valkey service at kvnest.com. KVNest is provided by KVNest, Amsterdam, the Netherlands ("we", "us"). By creating an account you accept these terms. Please also read our Privacy Policy.

1. Preview, free of charge

KVNest is in public preview and currently free of charge. Prices shown on the website are indicative only; no paid plans can be bought yet. Before we start charging, we will publish separate terms for paid plans, including your rights as a consumer such as the right of withdrawal. Using paid plans will require your explicit agreement to those terms.

2. Your account

  • You sign in with a Google or GitHub account that has a verified email address.
  • You must be at least 16 and able to enter into a binding contract. If you sign up for an organisation, you confirm that you may act for it.
  • An account is for one person. Keep your Google or GitHub account and your instance passwords secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • Tell us without delay if you suspect misuse of your account.

3. The service

KVNest runs single-node Redis or Valkey instances in Germany, within the limits of the plan you choose (memory, CPU, storage and connections, as shown in the dashboard). An account can currently have up to three instances. Connections require TLS.

Redis instances run Redis Open Source, unmodified, which we use under the GNU Affero General Public License v3; its source code is at github.com/redis/redis. Valkey instances run Valkey under the BSD 3-Clause licence, from github.com/valkey-io/valkey. Redis is a registered trademark of Redis Ltd. KVNest is not affiliated with or endorsed by Redis Ltd or the Linux Foundation.

During the preview:

  • We make no backups. If a server or disk fails, data in your instances can be lost. Keep your own copies of anything important.
  • Instances run on a single node, with no replication or failover.
  • We do not guarantee a level of availability, and maintenance can briefly interrupt instances.

We continue to develop KVNest and may change or remove features. We will give at least 30 days' notice of changes that significantly limit your use of the service, unless a change is needed sooner for security or legal reasons.

4. Your data

  • Everything you store in your instances remains yours. You grant us only the rights we need to store, process and transmit it to provide the service.
  • You are responsible for having the right to store that data, and for keeping your own backups.
  • If your data contains personal data, we process it only on your behalf, as described in the Privacy Policy. Business customers can request a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR.

5. Acceptable use

You must not use KVNest to:

  • store or distribute illegal content, or content that infringes the rights of others,
  • distribute malware, send spam, or run phishing, botnet or other abusive infrastructure,
  • attack, scan or overload our systems or anyone else's,
  • access other users' instances or data, or get around the isolation, quotas or limits of the service,
  • sell or give third parties access to KVNest as your own service without our written permission.

If you find a security vulnerability, please report it to legal@kvnest.com and give us reasonable time to fix it before disclosing it.

6. Reporting illegal content

Anyone can report content on KVNest that they believe is illegal (Art. 16 EU Digital Services Act) to legal@kvnest.com. Please include why you think it is illegal, where it can be found (for example the instance endpoint), and your name and email, unless the report concerns child sexual abuse material. We review reports promptly and tell you what we decided. The same address is our single point of contact for users and for authorities under Art. 11 and 12 DSA. We communicate in English.

7. Suspension and ending the contract

  • You can stop at any time: delete your instances in the dashboard, and ask us at legal@kvnest.com to delete your account.
  • We can end the free service for you, or for everyone, with 30 days' notice by email.
  • We can suspend instances or accounts immediately if that is needed to stop a serious breach of these terms, a security threat, or harm to others. Where possible we contact you first, and we restore access once the cause is resolved.
  • When the contract ends, we delete your instances and their data. Export anything you want to keep before then.

8. Liability

Because KVNest is currently free of charge, we are liable only for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence. This limitation does not apply to injury to life, body or health, to defects we fraudulently concealed, to guarantees we gave, or to liability that cannot be limited under mandatory law, such as product liability law. The same limits protect our employees and agents.

9. Changes to these terms

We will tell you about changes to these terms at least 30 days before they take effect, by email or in the dashboard. Changes that significantly affect your rights or obligations take effect only if you agree to them. If you do not agree, you can end the contract at any time before the change takes effect.

10. Governing law and disputes

  • These terms are governed by the law of the Netherlands, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you normally live.
  • If you are a business customer, the courts of Amsterdam, the Netherlands have exclusive jurisdiction. Consumers can bring proceedings in the courts of the country where they live.
  • We are neither obliged nor willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.

11. Final provisions

  • If any provision of these terms is invalid, the rest remain in force.
  • These terms are available in English. Contact: KVNest, Amsterdam, the Netherlands, legal@kvnest.com.
